Our Journey Together

Our journey together

You have your friends and your family

And then you have your people

Coming alongside one another in the journey

Seeing your family grow through trial, joys, pain and victories

Poetry has been written about these roads we travel together

Rejoicing when we see them succeed

[Pause] , we lift up,

to take it all in together

Wind comes and wind passes

but we don't know where it comes from, fleeting gusts

Providence, chance, luck, random factors

Mountains high and valleys low

your people were there

Spring rain, sweltering heat, brisk wind in your face,

and of course the falling

the falling leaves, the drifting down

Can a structure really be built that lasts between people

Can love for one another preserve,

Does love bridge the heartaches, the division, and years of Jubilee

Can love and care really save the day? I think so!

Can words we thought unimportant lift spirits from the depth? I think so!

Carrying on is possible through shattered, harsh, days- grace make a way.

Do we hand down this love,

this love for family, friends, and people automatically

"Seeds planted years before bearing fruit"

" Faithful friendships. Changed lives."

"collapse, and you have to create something new."

The time of life we're in now

is to watch in some respects

Yet "Life keeps pushing at you, it pushes at you, it pushes at you

"Watching another generation tell the story with such love and conviction reminded me that a legacy is never handed down automatically. Every generation has to decide whether they will carry it forward." 1

About this poem:  Our Journey Together is a poem about family, friends and people that are dearest to you and purposefully carrying this love and legacy forward. It's about looking back on decades of friendships and realizing there's really just a few real close that have been there all along with you. And it's this journey that we hope to watch as it's pushed forward to generations that follow. -Joe Holuta.
