Steeples and Spires in Autumn
The steeple reaches high
From a distance, I see colors of autumn leaves surrounding
The spire pierces the blue, pushing, pushing, the clouds and gray away
Tall , vertical , looking up
A landmark, though bell tower is now silent from the years, from the early years
A notice still goes forth
At its highest point
a lookout
A notice still goes forth
At its highest point
a lookout
Seen clearly from the mountains and the valleys as well
As lives continue to go
Perhaps the spire has lost its significance to many
Still we can't, but notice
As lives continue to go
Perhaps the spire has lost its significance to many
Still we can't, but notice
Hope
that all may not be lost
As One
and many gave way
that all may not be lost
As One
and many gave way

About this poem: Steeples and Spires in Autumn is a poem about looking up in times we need to breathe. Autumn colors are so magnificent and the steeples seen from a distance signal a way forward, from the valley of mountains leads us to bedrock hope.
