The Porch

The Porch

One glance /the porch / flood of memories/ family times fill me

Remembrance/ birthdays, bridal showers, celebrations, wedding rehearsals dinners/

Visits of family/ friends/grandchildren.

A quiet day/

Recalling lively conversation, laughter, Can see the faces

Remember tastes and smells

  • pies /fresh coffee.

Remembering the lives -holding them so close

Feel their heart beating/

Sweet breath.

Quickly it passes- like yesterday/

Yearning - wanting it all back/

Yet lives are moving on/ transitioning/ beautiful times

"When did the holly berries get red again"

Another year has passed and the Thanksgiving season /coming soon……

“It might feel impossible

To force your gaze heavenward

When earth’s gravity is so weighty.”

Yet  Wonder can save and lift

Remembrance of the days and

The porch view

The Porch, Glimpse poetry by Joe Holuta

About this poem: The Porch  is a poem about the joy of recalling wonderful memories at our home. The porch is a place where much of life happens. We can sit peacefully, gaze upward, remember, and are given strength again from God - for all of life’s heavy “gravity” moments. -Joe Holuta
